Altar and Rosary Society (AP)
The Altar and Rosary Society is a group of men and women who were founded originally as a woman’s sodality to care for the needs of the church in caring for the altar linens and vessels. It has evolved significantly and now serves Ascension Parish in two specific areas: fundraising and fellowship.
Both men and women are welcome to join the Ascension Parish Altar & Rosary Society. The Society promotes a devotion to the Rosary, recites the Rosary at funeral services upon request, and sends out Mass, get-well, sympathy cards to those in our parish and community members. Members also assist in the care of the altar and church environment throughout the year.
Funds are raised to benefit the parish and the community in times of need through various fund raisers and activities.
Saying of the Rosary
The Rosary will be said a half hour before the start of both the 4PM and 9:30AM Masses. If you would like to assist, please contact Sue (570-785-5337) or the Parish office.
Monthly Collection
Many Thanks for the donations of tissues, glue sticks and wipes for our KIND project. The students and teachers of FCR have expressed their Thanks, too!
For October we will be collecting donations of candy and other goodies to help Father Arun with the annual Trunk or Treat on Main Street, Forest City on Oct. 30th from 5-7PM. Please help Father make this a spooktacular time!
The Altar & Rosary Society is currently selling $10 Daily Number Raffle Tickets for the month of January 2026! Your purchase will help with future projects of the A&R Society and benefit our Church and community. Tickets are available from members as well as at the office (570-785-3838). Perhaps your purchase will make a good stocking stuffer or gift…
We will soon be collecting Coats, new & gently used. So, if you are cleaning your closet, think of us!
Meetings
Meetings are held the 4th Wednesday of the month at St. Joseph Church at 6:00 PM.
Membership
Membership to the A&RS is not just for the women of the Parish. Men, you are more than welcome to join too! Your ideas and help are needed and appreciateed! You can join and be a social member or help without attending meetings. All are welcome!
Interested Parishioners can join the A&RS by sending a completed application to the Parish Office by email at apskdp@nep.net, by mailing to 612 Hudson Street, Forest City PA, or by dropping the application in the collection basket.
