St. Vincent DePaul Fund

Ascension Parish and St. Katharine Drexel Parish have been recipients of the social justice program for many years which supports our St. Vincent DePaul Fund.  Due to the generosity of the Diocese of Scranton’s Social Justice Trust Fund, both parishes have been able to assist many families with low incomes in times of need.  St. Vincent DePaul Fund is an emergency fund used to help families, and those in dire need with their utility bills, medications, food, rent and child- care needs.  When people come in for assistance, our staff is informed of their needs and then request that the Pastor determine how best to assist them.  Assistance is usually done on a one time basis, so that we are able to help all those who come to our office with an immediate financial need.  We give the recipient a food voucher from our local grocery store, or call for fuel, utility etc.  We have many low-income and rural families in our immediate area that we have been able to assist, especially during the winter, thanks to the funds given us through the Diocese of Scranton’s Social Justice Trust Fund as well as donations from our parishioners.  If you are in need of assistance or wish to donate to the St. Vincent DePaul fund, contact the Parish Office at 570-785-3838.
